Testing

I’m currently in the middle of quite a bit of testing to determine if I have MS or another condition. I am convinced it is MS because then all my symptoms for the past 11- 16 years would make sense. Brain MRI shows many lesions with involvement of brain stem. Spine MRI clear. Just had a lumbar puncture. One band found in serum and CSF. Don’t see my neurologist again until August. They felt my MRI would be unusual for MS. Some lesions typical of migraine but then I have larger lesions that aren’t. I have been dealing with migraines for 11 years and diagnosed with fibromyalgia 16 years ago. The more I note my symptoms recently and over the years, it seems more like MS. But, alas, I am not a neurologist. Anyone with similar experience and it led to the MS diagnosis?

  1. Hi ,
Thanks for reaching out. I probably don't have to tell you how challenging it can be to diagnose MS. I'm hoping others will chime in here with their personal experiences. In the meantime, these two articles may provide some helpful information: https://multiplesclerosis.net/diagnosis/mcdonald-criteria and https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/testing. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts as you await your upcoming appointment.
