What can be done for explosive diarrhea?

I have a friend, 88 yrs. old, with MS.. Also hard of hearing, macular degeneration. She suddenly has been beset with explosive diarrhea, and is at wits end how to deal with this.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

  1. Hi I am glad you reached out. I am sending over a few discussions about this topic, I hope this can help: https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/diarrhea, https://multiplesclerosis.net/stories/loss-bowels-control and https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/irritable-bowel-syndrome. 1. Thank you. There doesn't seem to be a solution, or a strategy for dealing with explosive diarrhea. The doctors do their best, but MS continues to stump them.

      1. I'm really sorry you're going through this with no clear solution. What has your doctor suggested to your friend so far to help manage or reduce the episodes? Just curious of anything you guys have already tried. -Latoya (Team Member)

    2. Hi there, I have had explosive motions most of my life and after dozens and dozens of doctor and specialist visits and multiple tests (which resulted in no result) I actually found having psyllium fibre in water, after every main meal, almost lifesaving with the bowel motions. It's the only thing that has helped me. Good luck!

      1. Thank you for your suggestion. Do you use Metamucil or something else?
